If your ice maker has stopped working, it can be frustrating and you may want to immediately call a repair technician. However, before you do that, there are a few things you can check yourself that may save you time and money. First, check the fill tube which carries water into your ice maker. Make sure it is not clogged, broken, or frozen. If your fill tube is clear, then the next thing to check is the water filter. Replace the filter if it’s been more than three months since the last replacement time as a dirty filter can cause issues with an ice maker. Once the filter has been replaced or cleaned off, then take a look at the control arm in your ice maker. It could be blocked from the buildup of ice cubes that have accumulated in front of it and thus preventing functioning properly. If these steps haven’t worked and you still experience issues with your ice maker then perhaps it’s time to call a technician for help.
